Finally finished

I've finally handed in my Maison Martin Margiela project and these are some of my pages. The mood board was designed as part of a group but the designs are my own.

Art work

As with many people, art is one of my main inspirations. Lucian Freud has to be one of my favourite artists due to the emotion that he manages to convey through his work. I've found that a lot of the time I tend to base my art work on his style, especially when working in ink.
Here are a few of my pieces (not all in the style of Freud).

The Traveller

As part of a university project, I'm currently studying Martin Margiela and, for this, we have to look at different trends for Autumn/Winter 2010 and see which ones could be relevant for the brand. One of the trends I came across in Textile View magazine, is called 'The Traveller'. The main idea of the trend involves oversized, loose, layered shapes and, in my opinion, the best thing about it, is the 'sense of borrowing and collecting'. I love the idea of not looking too neat and tidy and I think this trend is a perfect example of being able to wear relaxed clothing, yet still look good.  I also think this would be completely fitting to be used as part of the inspiration behind a Margiela collection due to the emphasis on vintage and oversized proportions.

Here's a page I did on 'The Traveller'. Maison Martin Margiela's collection images demonstrate how the trend could be transferred to the brand.

And some fabric predictions for Autumn/Winter 2010:

Chloe Autumn/Winter 09

I realise this is quite a delayed reaction to this season's Chloe collection, but I'm completely in love with it. The colour palette works so well through a mixture of warm, earthy shades and the collection portrays masculinity through oversized silhouettes and masculine shapes, yet still manages to exude femininity. I think I also love it because it looks like some of the clothes have just been pulled straight from the latest Star Wars episode...?

I felt the need to dedicate a page of my sketch book to it:
